Special Session: Inspiring Waves with Elvis Ali Hazarika (International swimmer)

On 9th August 2025, Assam Tele-Education hosted a special interactive session with one of India’s most celebrated swimmers, Elvis Ali Hazarika from Assam. An international swimmer and former national champion, Hazarika began his journey at the young age of 9, representing India at the Asian Games. Over the years, he has earned recognition for his extraordinary long-distance swimming feats, including crossing the English Channel, Catalina Channel, and other challenging water bodies across the globe. He is also the first Assamese to cross the North Channel and a pioneer from the Northeast in attempting multiple international record swims.

The session, themed “Indian Swimming Excellence – An Interview with a Renowned Swimmer”, drew enthusiastic participation from students connected through Assam Tele-Education’s virtual learning platform. Mr. Hazarika shared his early experiences in competitive swimming, the rigorous preparation required for extreme-distance swims, and the life lessons he learned along the way. His emphasis on discipline, mental strength, and time management resonated deeply with the audience.

Students actively engaged in the discussion, asking questions about sports careers, fitness routines, and overcoming personal challenges. The two-way interaction created a warm, motivating environment where students felt encouraged to think big and stay committed to their dreams.

Overall, this special session under Assam Tele-Education was a resounding success, inspiring students across the state. It proved that with passion and perseverance, one can cross not just oceans, but any obstacle life presents.
