Statewide PAT Conducted in Govt Schools in Assam

In a significant move toward enhancing student evaluation and digital learning integration, the Government of Assam has initiated the PAT (Periodic Assessment Test) for students of Classes 3 to 8 across all government schools in the state. The two-day assessment aims to holistically evaluate students’ learning outcomes using multi-modal digital tools and local language interfaces.

This large-scale initiative is being conducted in Assamese and the test will be held in four mediums i.e. Assamese, English, Bodo and Bengali. to ensure inclusivity and better comprehension for students across diverse linguistic backgrounds. Schools equipped with Interactive Flat Panels (IFPs), smart classrooms, and projector-enabled tele-classrooms will conduct the assessment using these technologies, creating an engaging and student-friendly environment.

For schools that lack Tele-education or smart classroom facilities, teachers have been advised to download the necessary content and instructions through the E-Classroom app, ensuring no child is left behind in the assessment process.

An innovative addition to this year’s PAT is the use of the PAT Chatbox – a tool designed for collecting and analysing student responses more efficiently and interactively. It reflects the government’s growing focus on using AI and Ed-tech in mainstream education delivery.

To streamline the process, a detailed schedule and demonstration for various implementation phases has been made available through an official YouTube link, shared with all district and school-level representatives.

This initiative not only underscores Assam’s commitment to digital transformation in education but also highlights the integration of multilingual and adaptive learning environments that cater to the state’s diverse educational landscape.
