The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is an extremely demanding entrance exam in India for undergraduate engineering schools. It comprises two stages: JEE Main and JEE Advanced, which assess students’ understanding of physics, chemistry, and mathematics. Success in the JEE opens the door to prestigious universities such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs). Similarly, the Common Entrance Test (CET) is also a crucial exam for students aspiring to enter various engineering and professional courses in India.
Students who do not enroll in JEE or CET-specific coaching sessions often face a range of obstacles. For starters, they may lack access to formal study materials and guidance, which can impede their understanding of complex subjects. Self-study without qualified instructors can be challenging, resulting in uncertainty and knowledge gaps. Furthermore, these students may struggle with time management because they must mix their normal schoolwork with exam preparation without a planned schedule. The competitive nature of these tests can also lead to feelings of loneliness, as students lack the peer support and motivation that are common in coaching situations. Furthermore, individuals may struggle to practice well due to a lack of exposure to a variety of assignments and mock exams, which can reduce their confidence in navigating exam formats.
To empower students in their exam preparations, the second episode of our Career Guidance Session podcast on 04/10/2024 from the Assam Tele Education studio. We had our guest speaker Kapil Kumar Darphang , a first-year engineering student at IIT, Guwahati . He highlighted his inspiring journey to excel in the JEE and CET exams, which sparked an engaging Q&A session with kids. Drawing on his own experiences, he provided insightful methods and practical advice, allowing them to face these problems with confidence and drive.
